​Akina (Swahili for family) Ties provides crisis accommodation and a range of community education programs in the Kisii & Kuria area of Western Kenya. The crisis accommodation and programs are aimed at improving the lives of orphans, vulnerable children and women affected by domestic & sexual violence.
Girlie Camp
Girls Mentorship & Leadership program tackling Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) which leads to a high school drop out rate, early marriage and medical complications i.e Fistula.
Feed a Granny & Widow Program
We aim to provide monthly food hampers to abandoned & sick grannies in our community providing them with nutritional and hygiene products. We also support widows who are left struggling with huge families to support.
Sanitary Product Program
Provides and distributes sanitary products to women and girls in the community and schools around us to end Period Stigma and loss of school days for girls.
