Experience Akina Ties First Hand
We have a brand-new, custom built home with dedicated on-site volunteer accommodation.
Whilst staying with us you can expect to get involved in the daily life of our kids as much or as little as you like. You may like to:
Assist with meal times;
Help get children up and put them to bed;
Play with kids outside or inside;
Assist in taking children on outings to local places of interest; and
Attend local schools.
There's also plenty to do out in the community including:
Visiting local not-for-profit organisations;
Helping to distribute clothing, food and basic hampers to members of the community in need;
Helping with Heart4Change Program community education and health events; and
Helping organise our yearly 'girlie camps' which focus on leadership skills and health education.
You may even like to get together with your friends and family and raise some funds for us before you get here. Some volunteers raise funds to buy school shoes, school bags or pyjamas for each of the kids!
Or you could just sit back and enjoy the beauty of Kenya - we have many stunning tourist destinations nearby including safari parks and other natural attractions.
We make volunteering easy - we can arrange a private pick up from Nairobi airport which will bring you to our door. Alternatively there are public transport options. The journey is 5-6 hours by private car. If your flight arrives late at night we can provide affordable and safe homestay accommodation near the airport.
Once you get here you will have your own private room in our home. You can eat with us or cook your own meals in our kitchen.
We can advise you on what to see and do locally and arrange all your trips to local attractions such as game parks, other not-for-profits, communities in need and local schools.
You just book your flights!
Before you come to Kenya you need to get a full, current police check done by your local police and forward it to us.
