WHO ARE WE
Akina (Swahili for family) Ties provides crisis accommodation and a range of community education programs in the Kisii, Nyamira, and Migori areas of Western Kenya. The crisis accommodation and programs are aimed at improving the lives of orphans, vulnerable children, and women affected by violence, HIV/AIDS, and neglect.

Akina Ties safe guards the rights and welfare of women and children through establishment, promotion, integration and supervision of services designed to advance protection of children and women.
Akina Ties Haven - A Crisis Accommodation Centre
We provide a safe and highly secure place where women and children can live completely free from violence and start the road to recovery. We offer rehabilitative and reintegration services. We are situated in Kisii in the western area of Kenya.
The haven is currently home to 31 children aged from 0-18 who are unable to live at home with their natural families or extended families because it is unsafe for them to do so.
It is an environment of positive attitude, holistic support, and breaking the cycle of Violence. Children are committed to us by court order for a period of one year, unfortunately, in some cases, this is not possible and Akina Ties Haven becomes their long-term home. Even though the home is strictly a rescue center that seeks to re-integrate children once they are out of danger, we have been forced to adjust so as to fit the needs of those kids that can’t go back home due to factors such as; hostility from family members and the community, perpetrator still leaving in the same environment, children with psychotic parents, etc.
